Bryght sites can pull in XML feeds using the RSS and Atom standards to display recently-updated items (such as news stories, weblog posts, as well as keyword searches) in reverse-chronological order.

Is it possible to use RSS aggregation in a custom block? I just want to create a block, define its position and then set it to pull the RSS feed to display in the block.

Or, can I go only through the aggregator?

Go through the aggregator

Basically, it works exactly opposite to how you describe.

  1. Go to the aggregator, create the feed
  2. Enable block display for the feed and select how many items to display
  3. Enable the block under Administer » Blocks
