Keep an Item at the Top of the Page

When writing an item that needs to appear at the top of the page for an extended period of time without getting bumped down by new content. In the CMS, this is called Sticky at top of lists:
  1. access the item in various ways, either by:
    • clicking administer » content and scrolling through the existing content
    • from the section for that node type (e.g. yoursite.com/event for events, yoursite.com/blog for blogs, etc.), click on the item
    • looking at the yoursite.com/tracker which shows the latest items added or updated
  2. click the edit tab for the item
  3. check the Promoted to front page box.

Some good examples of types of content that could remain at the top of a site:

  • special pages like an "about" page that should remain visible to new visitors of the site
  • an upcoming event
  • a discussion that is particularly noteworthy
  • a news alert that is especially urgent
If more than one item is set to Sticky at top of lists, then they are ordered reverse-chronologically (i.e. the most recent sticky item on top of the second-most recent sticky item and so on).
