Configure SimpleMenu, a Drop-Down Menu for Administering Your Bryght Site

SimpleMenu provides an always-available drop-down menu at the top of your site, reducing the amount of clicking necessary to make changes to the site.

Changing What Appears in the Top Menu

On new Bryght sites, SimpleMenu is setup to provide administrative functions for the site, such as configuration and content type administration. Content creation from links on the sidebar.

  1. check to see if the module is enabled under Administer » Site building » Modules.
  2. Under Administer » Site configuration » SimpleMenu see which top-level menu SimpleMenu uses. (For new Bryght sites, this menu is called "Administer".)
  3. following our instructions on setting up menus, add menu items to the menu SimpleMenu uses

Configure Who Sees the Top Menu

  1. click Administer » User management » Access control.
  2. add the "view simplemenu" permission to the roles you want to see the menu

Advanced Settings

The only settings from this section that have any effect are the following:

  • Theme exclusions: you can set which theme does not display on. (Only enabled themes will show up in this list.) This is useful if you want to give users the ability to disable SimpleMenu. In this case, you would also have to give them the "select different theme" permission under Administer » User management » Access control.
  • Set menu orientation to RTL: this puts SimpleMenu on the right side (RTL stands for "right to left") for Eastern language readers.
