A corporate site is defined as any site that has mainly static content, talking about products, services, the business itself, etc. This is usually accompanied by a dynamic section that for news about the business or press releases.

Enabled Modules

  • Book: main structural component of the site; each book is a major section of the site, with pages organized in hierarchies. Used with the book navigation block to display all the other pages in a section.
  • Story: news, announcements, press releases, etc.
  • (optional) Blog: if anyone in the company wants to write a company-focused blog
  • (optional) Aggregator: aggregate information related to the company or the business topics related to it
  • (optional) Forums: provide discussion or support forums for clients

Roles and Permissions

Typically for corporate sites, there will be two main roles: administrator and content editors.

  • administrators will normally have access to all permissions, though possibly some permissions like editing users as well as editing permissions (that is, the ability to revoke and grant permissions to roles, including their own) will be best left disabled. The site's first user will always have access to all permissions both initially and when a module is enabled, but whenever a module is enabled, administrators other than the first user will need their permissions for that module enabled manually.
  • content editors will normally have the ability to create and edit their own content, such as weblog entries and static pages, and promote or demote, publish or unpublish content. They will generally not have the ability to administer content types nor administer users and other areas of the site.
  • (optional) content creators will normally have permission to create and edit their content, but require approval for publication from either the content editors or the administrators.  This role would be most useful when the organization anticipates many producers of content, especially if each employee were to have their own blog.

Default Workflow

A typical default workflow for a corporate site might allow administrators and content editors to automatically publish content to the front page, but content creators would have their content submitted to a queue for administrators (or the editors) to approve.
