Logging into a Drupal Site and Ma.gnolia using OpenID Screencast
In this screencast, we demonstrate OpenID single sign on: logging into both Ma.gnolia and a Drupal site using the same OpenId (see also Richard's excellent: Login to your Bryght Site using OpenID). OpenID support is included as part of the latest Bryght Basic Drupal Install Profile available for all Drupal 5 sites at: https://svn.bryght.com/dev
All you need is your own OpenID (in this screencast we use a free OpenId from JanRain's MyOpenID.com) which you can get from many OpenID providers (like domain name registrars there are many OpenID providers and some services like Live Journal and WordPress.com also give you an OpenID and you can even run your own OpenID server).
An OpenID consists of
- a URL and
- some credentials.
You can use your OpenID to login into a whole host of web apps and services (e.g Basecamp, any OpenID enabled Drupal site, etc) with more being added daily.
And thanks to the hard efforts of James Walker (James and Bryght have been working with identity and leading identity companies like sxip since 2004), Rowan Kerr, and others, the forthcoming release of Drupal, Drupal 6, will have OpenID built in!
