Aggregator Categories
Creating Categories in the Aggregator
Categories in the aggregator are different and separate from the taxonomy system: you cannot use the same categories that you would create under administer » categories. That said, you can use aggregator categories to create 'bundles' of feeds.
- Go to administer » aggregator then click on the add category tab.
- Add a title to the category, then a description.
- If you wish to have a block of the last
xitems from that category, select the number of items in "Latest items block". To place the block on your sidebar, go to administer » blocks and look for the category you just created.
Now every time you add a feed, you can select a category which the items will automatically appear under. Alternatively, you can tag individual items in your aggregator to appear in a category.
Each category has its own URL, which can be URL aliased if the path module is enabled. The URL for the Vancouver blogs section of the aggregator at Urban Vancouver illustrates this: it is is category of Vancouver-based weblogs given an URL alias. The system path is aggregator/categories/3 (replace 3 with the appropriate category ID) and even individual sources can be given their own URL on your site, the system path being aggregator/sources/3 (3 being the source ID).
Categorizing Individual Items in the Aggregator
