Link to Other Pages On Your Site or to External Websites
Adding a Link to Text
The editor lets you create links to pages appearing on your website or to an external website.
- Type the link text.
- Select the text. You will need to do select text before the link button becomes active.
- Click the
button. - In the box for Link URL:, type or paste in a full URL with the form
http://www.example.com/or relative link such as/about, which is a page on the site you are writing for. - (optiona) Select a target. You can select the link to appear in a new window; the same frame (if your site was designed using frames); in the "top" frame; or you can select "Other" and type in the target yourself.
- Open link in the same window
- Open link in new window (generally not recommended, as this will break the back button for site readers)
- (optional) In the box for Title type some text that will appear when readers hover their mouse arrow over the link.
- (optional) Select a style for the link. Unless recommended by your site's administrator, you likely won't have to do this, so you can skip this step.
- Click Insert
Removing a Link from Text
If you no longer want text to link to a page, whether external or internal:
- Highlight the text you with to remove the link for.
- Click the
button.
