Reseller Strategy

Categories:

Hello, I'm new to Bryght, and I'd like to know what successes folks are having with bringing new clients on to the managed hosting solution.

I understand that the reseller module allows me to track clients, and then to set up sites for them. I like that function a lot, and for clients that are not going to go the route of a VPS it seems like it should be a pretty good starting point.

Now, is it correct that Bryght will then send me a bill for whatever sites I set up through that method?

If I don't want the site, or to get billed for it, then I need to write in by email to cancel it, correct?

When I sign up / resell a site, then I am responsible for paying the bill, and I need to bill the person that I sold the site to?

What is charged for a reseller site like this? Is it the same price as anything else? Or do resellers get a break?

I don't ask if we get a break for no reason, or to deny the value of the Bryght install, but instead because it is funny to figure out how to justify not just telling the client everything about Bryght and cutting out the middle man, (ie, me!)

Is there any sort of credit tracking system for this or other products like VPS?

I appreciate your taking a moment to fill in the blanks on this for me. Hope to hear from you soon!

Reseller questions

Now, is it correct that Bryght will then send me a bill for whatever sites I set up through that method?

Yes. You have 30 days on all new sites, and then you get a chance to decide to either pay for the site or to let it go inactive.

If I don't want the site, or to get billed for it, then I need to write in by email to cancel it, correct?

Yes. Email billing AT bryght.com if you would like to disable a site in order not to get billed for it. We'll be adding the "disable site" functionality to the reseller module directly.

When I sign up / resell a site, then I am responsible for paying the bill, and I need to bill the person that I sold the site to?

Yes. You need to bill the client directly: we don't currently plan to have a "bill through" method. So, you can either charge the same amount, have the client sign up and pay for the site directly, OR bundle the hosting along with, for example, webmaster services or ongoing consulting.

Originally, we charged $40 per site and had reseller pricing of half that. Now, the Bryght Basic profile is set at $20 across the board. We tend to see a lot of developers and consultants be the primary customers of the service: we work with them by connecting them with some of the many customers that ask us for consulting services. Future profiles may again have reseller discounts, as they will be higher priced.

We don't have a credit system. As I mentioned, our resellers tend to get a lot of work pushed to them by us – use our infrastructure, and we'll recommend you to people looking for consultants.

Welcome, and thanks for all the questions!
