New Account: Basic Questions (How to add a Page, How to add Modules)

Categories:

Hello All,

I am new to Drupal and I just created an account here.

Q1: Is this a demo account or a full fledged and fully enabled account?

Q2: How can I add Modules to my account?

Q3: How do I add, or create a: Page?
I am attempting to follow the docs: How To Create a Dynamic Web 2.0 Brochure Site in an Hour http://support.bryght.com/adminguide/how-to/dynamic-web20-brochure-site-...

but I can't find: create content»page

Has a page been renamed to a Book? At first I thought this might be the case, but now I think it's not as I cannot find: "Publishing options»Promoted to front page"

It's a 30-day demo account

It's a 30-day demo account with all of the features for the Bryght Basic level. It's like a test site, which you can setup and then switch out the URL with your domain name.

For modules, go to Administer, Site building, Module. Enable or disable from there.

Create content, Page.

Letter from 30-day jail....

As of now I have enabled every module except:
Drupal
Legacy
Locale

Can I add any modules other than those (I mean the list of modules on Home>Admin>Site building>Modules) included whilst in the 30 day jail? If so, how? If not, then how do I get out of 30-day jail and then what modules do you support and how do I install them: shell, ftp, or some method inside of drupal? (remember I am a drupal newbie.)

The only content I can create is:
Blog entry
Book page
Forum topic
Image
Poll

Adding modules

Richard Eriksson's picture

I'm the Bryght tech support guy, but just wanted to point out that publicme is correct, it's fully featured, but time-limited to 30 days before we send a bill.

If you signed of for a site either through bryght.com/signup or preview.bryght.com/signup, then you cannot add modules to the existing list. Also, there is no SSH or FTP access: all files woudld need to be uploaded through the Drupal interface. We have a separate service where you can get a Virtual Private Server (VPS) which gives you full access to the file system, including access through SSH and SFTP (secure FTP). Pricing information for that is available at http://support.bryght.com/vps/pricing.

As for Pages...I don't see any pages...I don't see Create Content > Page nor do I see a Page module...should there be a Page module?

New sites are supposed to come with the "Page" content type, but it sounds like that didn't happen to you. You can create new content types (including a "Page" content type), through Administer (top menu) » Content management » Content types, then the "Add content type" tab at the top. Give it the name "Page", then the Type of 'page' (lowercase), and enter a short descriptio. That will get you a Create content » Page menu item.
