No FTP or code access
Since you're still on the hosted service, Sibylle, there's no access to the file system directly through FTP or control panel. What did you need to do?
I can send you a copy of the database via email if you like.

To do this, you'd need a VPS
For additional modules and custom stuff, you'd only be able to do that on a virtual private server. We have pricing and specification information, and that gives you full access to the file system as well as the databases. See also our blog post introducing the service.

VPS still hosted by Bryght
Not on the hosted service, which you are currently on, no. But the VPS option—which is through us, and which we can move the site to—will let you do additional modules and custom stuff.
Which of those VPS packages

Good
I'd say start with the Good first, since you can always upgrade to a better package later if you need it.
Before we make a decision on
Before we make a decision on this could I please take you up on the offer to email the database and sourcefiles, so I can get an idea from the Drupal guys what to expect?
