The answer is largely "it depends": partly on modules to upgrade to Drupal 6 and partly on us to determine which modules to keep, which modules to drop, and which modules to add.
(Speaking only for myself, I'd like to see the subscriptions/notifications modules added to a Drupal 6 profile of ours. The two I'd push to keep are Views and CCK, of course, but they're currently in very heavy development.)
We've quietly started work on a profile for Drupal 6, but as yet that profile is simply just the core of Drupal with nothing else. I wanted to check it into our public Subversion repository to signal that yes, we're committed to a Drupal 6 profile and tracking it with Drupal 6 core development. Other than that, as I mentioned, we don't yet have an estimated date for when we'll release it.
