bryght light

Changing internal IP addressses of Bryght Light Cluster Tuesday February 16, 2009 10p.m.

As part of ongoing maintenance and yet another stage in our move of the Bryght Light hosted service to Aegir, we'll be changing some internal IP adresses for the Bryght Light hosted service server cluster at approximately 10p.m. Pacific Tuesday February 16, 2009. No action is required from customers as all the IP addresses are used on Bryght Light's back-end. Also, Bryght Virtual Private Servers (VPSes) will not be affected. Let us know if you have any issues by contacting us.

Deleting unused Bryght Ad Sites

Categories:

Tonight, as we continue moving the Bright Light hosted service to the Aegir provisioning system, we'll be deleting approximately 300 unused free Bryght Light Sites with Ads. They have no content other than the default content which was originally created with the site. Paid and free-trial sites are not affected.

Bryght Light Signups Disabled for move to Aegir

Great News! We are upgrading Bryght Light to use the third generation version of our hosting system, the open source Aegir system architected by Adrian. As a result, we have disabled Bryght Light signups and will re-enable them after the transition is complete. As always if you have any questions, please contact us and of course you can still sign up for a Bryght VPS; Bryght VPS is not affected by this upgrade to Bryght Light!

Bryght Light to Change IP Address Tomorrow at 2 PM Pacific

Summary:

  1. If your DNS is already set up to be a CNAME to point to horse.bryght.com, then no action is required.
  2. If your DNS is set up to be an A record, then change it to a CNAME as per #1 if you can. If you can't, change your A Record from the old IP to the new IP Address below.

Old IP address:

  • 209.31.179.218

New IP Address:

  • 64.55.119.47

Bryght Hosting is changing the IP address of the Bryght Light hosting cluster because our current IP address provider is experiencing financial difficulties. This means that the IP address associated with the horse.bryght.com DNS name will be changing. If you have your site configured in the recommended way, i.e. you have a CNAME Record that points to horse.bryght.com, you don't have to make any changes and everything should work fine.

However, if you have setup an A Record to point to the IP address directly, you will have to change this record by contacting your DNS server and changing to the new IP address of 64.55.119.47.

We will be switching the IP address tomorrow September 24th, 2008, in the afternoon at 2 PM Pacific Time. Please contact us at support@bryght.com if you have any questions. Thank you and we apologize for the short notice and for any inconvenience.
