Get Notified When the Site Changes Using RSS
Introduction
RSS is a machine readable representation of what recently changed on your website. It originated with weblogs, but even non blog sites have RSS feeds like the New York Times and the BBC.
What does this mean to you as a user? Well using an RSS reader, you can read more sites quicker without tedious manual surfing. For more info check out How Blogs Work in 7 easy pieces and Michael Fagan's guide to RSS
How To use an RSS reader to subscribe to your Bryght site
If you haven't read or understood the explanations about RSS in the introduction, I suggest you (re)read them now.
To subscribe to your Bryght site's RSS feed:
- Surf to your site/node/feed. e.g. http://www.urbanvancouver.com/node/feed
- Copy this link to your clipboard (Control C on Windows, Command C on Macs)
- Paste the link into your feedreader (sometimes called a news aggregator or aggregator for short). Bryght recommends FeedDemon on Windows, NetNewsWire on Macs and Bloglines if you are looking for a web-based RSS reader. Bryght site administrators can also add the RSS feeds to the sites' built-in aggregator.
