  1. Click Create content then a content type, such as "blog".
  2. Click the img_assist button, which appears just below the box where you will be typing the main body. The image looks like this: img_assist button
  3. You should see a window with the following three "frames" and links to change the images being previewed:
    • image thumbnails
    • the "Image preview pane" to the right, where you can see a larger version of the image
    • the image settings pane, where you can make changes to the image's size (these settings become 'visible' once you click on a thumbnail)
    • the "add image" link lets you add an image to the images previewed.  See the ... section below for how to do that.
    • the "my images" link will show only photos you've uploaded
    • the "all images" will show images uploaded by all users
    • a "[-]" and "[+]" link will move you back and forth between images uploaded to the site, 25 (or whatever the administrator has set) at a time.
  4. Click on the image you wish to place in the body. You will see the following in the bottom frame:
    • The description of the image, which you can change. This is useful for both search engines and the visually-impaired readers of your site.
    • Option to use the original or the thumbmail.
    • If you choose to use the original, you can resize it in the section labeled "Image size in pixels". If you leave "Maintain aspect ratio selected", every time you change a number the other number will change in proportion to the original image.
    • Image caption: this is text from the body of the image originally uploaded to the site.
  5. When you're ready to place your image, you have two options, shown by the buttons at the very bottom:
    • Show code: this will show the HTML code for those comfortable with HTML.
    • Insert image: this will place the image in your text and close the pop-up window.
  6. (optional) Type in an image caption.
  7. Select whether you wish the window to insert HTML code or a filter, which is a representation of the HTML.  It's generally best to choose 'html', which is automatically selected.
  8. Click "Insert image" button.  Alternatively, click the "Show code" button, so you can copy & paste the HTML in your content directly.

Adding an Image using img_assist

If the Image module is installed, then one way to upload images to your site is by using create content » image. But if you're in the middle of typing something and remember that you have an image to upload, rather than saving the draft, then going to create the image, then returning to the save draft, you can upload the image using Img_assist.

  1. When writing some content, click the button below the main body, which looks like this: img_assist button
  2. In the top left corner of the resulting pop-up, you should see a link titled "add image". Click this link. This will give you a screen to upload an image.
  3. Follow our instructions on adding an image or photo to your site. To summarize, type in a title, browse for the file on your computer, then click the "Submit" button.
  4. You should see the image listed as a thumbnail. Follow the instructions above on placing an image starting with step #3.
