- When you're done editing, click the "Save account" button.
Bryght sites come configured with certain fields enabled by default.
The administrator may set up the site differently than is listed below. These are the main settings for a user's account.
Account Settings
- Username: what the user logs in with and, if the
administrator allows for post information to be displayed (this is the
usual practice), then this is what is shown as the author of a post. - Email address: where all user emails will be sent. This
includes password-recovery as well as system notifications pertaining
to that user, including subscription notifications, including comment
notifications. - Password: the password a user logs in with. Must be typed
twice to rule out typos. Note: if you make chagnes to your account but
leave the password blank, it will remain the same as when you logged
in. In other words, it is not deleted. - Status: only administrators should see this option, and it refers to whether a user has access to the site.
- Roles: only administrators should be able to edit this option, and this refers to what permission level a user has.
- URL for your FOAF file: if you already have a FOAF file publicly available on the web, you can point to it here with the full URL. This is optional.
- Allow FOAF Export: whether or not you wish to generate a FOAF file from your profile.
- Automatically subscribe to threads in which you post:
whether or not you wish to be automatically signed up for email
notifications to content you write as well as to content you post
comments to. If this is unset, you can still subscribe to email
notification of updates manually to each individual piece of content. - Enable rich text editor while authoring: creates WYSIWYG editing for paragraph-form text boxes.
- Upload picture: assign an image to your profile, creating
what is sometimes referred to as an "avatar". Site administrators may
have setup the site to allow users' pictures to appear next to their
comments and/or content. The dimensions and file sizes are usually
limited so you may need to resize your photo or image down
significantly. - Block configuration: a list of optional sidebar blocks that the administrator has given users permission to add to their view of the site.
- Signature: a short piece of text (some HTML may be allowed
by the administrator) that appears at the bottom of every piece of
content you create. - Theme settings: if the administrator has created or included
more than one look to a site, you will get a choice of those looks.
Based on the small screenshot next to each, you can choose what the
site looks like to you.
