All our virtual private servers run the stable version of CentOS with security patches that is kept up to date. Below is an example of the standard load on these systems: we upgrade the base images and the individual packages as needed.

• Bryght maintained copy of Drupal 5 and the Bryght Basic profile, checked out from our subversion repository
• Apache 2.x
• MySQL 5.0.x
• PHP 5.1.x with corresponding versions of PEAR and GD built in
• eAccelerator installed and configured (software that speeds up PHP which in turn speeds up Drupal)
• heavy tech stuff: perl-DBD-MySQL and other common Linux software pre-installed, systems are "yum-enabled" so standard packages can be easily installed
